High School Intervention

One of our high school intervention programs for at risk teens group photoThe dogs go through 9-18 months of rigorous reward-based training in over 90 service dog commands.

HS DOGS is an innovative outreach and training tool that reaches at-risk teens in alternative education settings. Students involved in HS DOGS learn valuable life, social and job skills by training young service dogs-to-be under the watchful and caring eye of a licensed service dog trainer.

Participants of HS DOGS statistically show these positive changes while providing a valuable community service:

  • 73% improvement in attendance
  • 89% decrease in discipline referral
  • GPA increase of 0.7 or one letter grade
  • 10% increase in self-esteem
  • Learn job, leadership and self management skills
  • Develop empathy and emotional awareness of their community
