Often we need loving foster homes to help socialize our growing dogs. If you become a foster home, you will become involved in changing another’s life forever. I can’t imagine a better project for a family. Below is a list of some basic information about becoming a foster home
- You will receive a puppy or young dog from Wilderwood (we usually use Golden Retrievers, Labs or some combination of those)
- Wilderwood will cover all medical expenses of the dog; the family will be responsible for the food, toys, dog bed, leashes.
- The family will be asked to train the dog in basic manners, these include:
- Potty training
- Chewing on appropriate toys
- General house manners
- Basic obedience (sit, down, come when called and wait)
- The most important role of the foster family is Love and Socialization. We ask that the foster family take their foster dogs anywhere and everywhere in order to expose them to all sorts of people and stimuli. This is critical to a service dog’s development and ultimate success.
If you would like to consider becoming a foster family, please e-mail us at wilderwood@charter.net and we will be in touch regarding our current needs. |
